In a joint consortium led by GTM Normandie-Centre, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction France, ENGIE Solutions has been selected by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the construction of an offshore wind turbine factory. ENGIE Solutions will be in charge of all technical trades on this site.

Located in the port of Le Havre, the 22-hectare plant with a length of more than one kilometre will be the first in the world to manufacture all the main components of an offshore wind turbine on the same site. Construction has just started, and the site will be gradually brought into service as from early 2022.

Under this exceptional contract, ENGIE Solutions is in charge of several work packages and thus confirms its commitment to supporting its industrial clients in their move towards a carbon-neutral transition by participating in the creation of new-generation energy infrastructure that is safer and consumes less energy.

Within this project, ENGIE Solutions will be in charge of all technical trades for the plant’s industrial buildings but also the tertiary buildings :

  • high- and low-current electricity
  • fire protection with automatic water extinguishing facilities (sprinklers)
  • production and distribution of utilities : gas, hot and cold water, compressed air,
  • heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
  • air humidification
  • centralised dust extraction system
  • sanitary plumbing for the tertiary buildings
  • the Building Management System

Also, ENGIE Solutions will carry out the Energy Savings Certificate (ESC) mission on behalf of Siemens Gamesa, to reduce the site’s energy consumption.

ENGIE Solutions will provide its entire chain of expertise ranging from performance studies through to supply of materials, construction and installation of components.

The complexity of this large-scale industrial project will be to bring together all the trades within a very tight work schedule.

“We are proud to be supporting Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in this major project in favour of greener energy.  With this project, ENGIE Solutions is anchoring its commitment to the development of a durable industrial offshore wind sector in France and thus contributing to a more sustainable and carbon-neutral world,” says Wilfrid Petrie, Executive Vice President of ENGIE, in charge of ENGIE Solutions.
